2022 SP UPDATES

04/20/22

Congratulations to the patch winners from yesterday: KC (8 WZ) and Jason K (9 BR).

The results are in! Spring Session is in the books and these are the winners. Congratulations to the first place teams for 2022 Spring Session:
TUFF BREAK for 8 Ball
LADY & CHAMPS for 9 Ball
.

These two teams will automatically qualify for the Vegas Qualifying Tournament aka VQT (which will happen early January 2023) for Vegas Nationals happening in February 2023.

The second and third place teams will participate in playoffs next Tuesday 04/26:

8 Ball: Shot for Shot (2nd place) vs Night Moves (3rd place)
9 Ball: Shot Callers (2nd place) vs Night Moves (3rd place)

Best of luck to these three teams. Come out and support them if you’re able to do so! There will be NO 10 ball B&R.

As a reminder, Summer Session begins Tuesday 05/03. We are excited to have league growth by one team, making this an 8 team division. All 8 teams are currently full up. We will be welcoming some familiar faces as well as new members added. This means there will be no byes in the Summer Session. Team captain incentives remain the same: 1 free 10 ball B&R ticket per week and the opportunity to win free dues for the session via the captain & co-captain tournament taking place Sat 05/14 starting at noon. Anyone considering being a team captain, please contact us and we can make it happen this coming session!

We are also excited to announce two new divisions starting at BIGgles near the Chinatown area, 8 and 10 ball. If interested in joining, please contact us. If you know anyone wanting to play in that area, send them our way!

We want to thank everyone for being a part of USAPL. This league exists because of you all, and we are so thankful to be a part of it with you. Looking forward to more growth in the future!

04/18/22

Happy Monday everyone! Congrats to Anthony G on his 8 BR patch!

Tomorrow is the last week of the Spring session. After tomorrow, the first place team of 8 and 9 will automatically qualify into the VQT for Vegas Nationals 2023. The second place & third place teams will be participating in the playoffs the following Tuesday. Updates will be done ASAP so the teams who will be participating will be informed as soon as possible. Playoffs are free of charge and will be played like a normal league night, with the only exception of no playbacks allowed. We will be there to faciliate and answer any questions that may come up, watch shots, etc.

Recall last week’s update where we will start using the points/set criteria to determine team placing starting in the Summer session. If a team ties in points/set, the tiebreaker will be Wins/Losses. We have one more thing that will change: FORFEITS. Currently, a team that forfeits a match, the automatic scoring will be a loss of 200 points. Starting next session, a forfeit will only be a loss of 100 points. As scoring a match goes, a win is calculated as 100 points + any additional margin of victory points. In the event of a forfeit, there should be no margin of victory points due to not having played anyone. Therefore, the win by forfeit should only take into consideration the bonus points of 100 and no MOV points.

Congrats to last week’s 10 ball break & run winner: Genaro! He was able to make 1 ball off the break and pocketed one more after, walking away with $572.00! Current pot is at $2,580.00, making each ball worth $258.00. Good luck to the next drawn contestant!

Table assignments for 04/19 (HOME vs AWAY):
– Pocket Shots vs Tuff Break: 15 / 16
– Night Moves vs Shot for Shot: 21 / 22
– Stick Em Up vs Shot Callers: 17 / 18
– Lady & Champs: BYE WEEK

04/11/22

Happy Monday everyone! We have a lengthy update, so let’s jump right in! Congrats to the following patch winners: Genaro & Andrea, both for 9 SNAPs!

We have 2 more weeks of league left, tomorrow 04/12 and the following Tuesday 04/19. Then we have playoffs 04/26. We then roll right into summer session on 05/03. If you have any roster changes, please let us know so the schedule can be set up right away without any delay! Also, if anyone is interested in becoming a team captain and either bringing in your own team or want some help from us building you a team, let us know! We will help in either capacity to ensure there are solid teams. Keep in mind there are captain incentives, including a free 10 ball B&R ticket every week as well as a captain & co-captain singles tournament where the winner gets free league play all session!

Speaking of captain/co-captain tournament: the next one for Summer Session is scheduled for Saturday, May 14 starting at noon. This is a singles 8 ball event, double elimination. Captain and co-captain of each team is eligible to play, free of charge, for a chance to win free league dues for a session. In the event either the captain or co-captain chooses not to play, he/she can designate another individual to take his/her place.

To recap some upcoming dates:
– 04/19: Last week of Spring Session
– 04/26: Spring Session playoff
– 05/03: First week of Summer Session
– 05/14: Captain/Co-Captain 8 ball tournament

As you know, we came back from Vegas a couple weeks ago. We want to highlight the teams & individuals who represented H-Town to the best of their abilities. Please congratulate the following:

8 Ball Team: Night Moves – placed 49 out of 74
8 Ball Team: M8P2 – placed 33 out of 74
9 Ball Team: Pocket Shots – placed 13 out of 23
8 Ball Single: Geury M – placed 7 out of 54
9 Ball Single: Geury M – placed 17 out of 20
10 Ball Single: Geury M – placed 17 out of 24
10 Ball Single: JaRon D – placed 9 out of 24
League Manager: Phil T – placed 5 out of 8

While in Vegas, we attended a league manager’s meeting where we were able to get some guidelines in how the leagues are being operated. One thing we want to start doing beginning the summer session is to rank teams based off of Points per Set rather than the total points earned. This eliminates the issues we have with bye weeks not being equal throughout the session. Again, this change will take place starting the summer session and going forward.

Congrats to last week’s 10 ball break & run winner: Bert! He was able to make 1 ball off the break and walked away with $288! Current pot is at $2,860.00, making each ball worth $286.00. Good luck to the next drawn contestant!
